Usually I don’t review samples, but I thought that since it’s perfumes and you kind of know from just one use how you like them or not and since this a sample set, I decided I could do a quick blog post for a short review.
I love perfumes. Very much. But unfortunately I just can’t afford to spend much on them because when I do splurge with my purchases, I chose to do it for a clothing item or for a pair of shoes, something that can last me a long time. Perfumes are gone too fast so I don’t want to spend hundreds of euros on designer perfumes. I know they’re worth it because I did have some designer perfumes every now and then and they were great, but I also need to think about my pocket.
I found out about Lorinna perfumes from a woman that came by at the office one day and she smelled real food so I asked what perfumes she uses and she said it’s from this brand. And so, because I didn’t want to buy anything blindly I got this sample set from an online shop that sells perfumes from Lorinna. It’s the only set they had, from their “Niche Series” which are basically copies of famous perfumes. I know, I know, it’s not nice to support copies, but as long as they don’t have the same packaging or any other things that could lead you on to believe that you buy the original perfumes, I don’t think it’s necessarily a reap off.

The entire Niche Series 78 perfumes, but the set contains 10 of them, which I’m guessing are the most popular ones. They are each sold for around 20 – 25 euros each, so I think that’s a fair price. The sample set was 10 euros, which is ok-ish. The samples are small, only 2 ml bottles, but they were still enough for two uses each, so now I already made my choices and I know what I want to purchase full size.
By the way, it says Lorinna Paris on the packaging, but don’t be fooled. These are Turkish perfumes, made by Gloria Kozmetik, a company based in Istanbul (it does say so right on the back of the box, I didn’t even have to look it up). So that’s why they’re cheap. But I don’t mind it. If it smells nice, I really don’t care where these are made. I think that ”Paris” in the brand’s name is supposed to make it sound fancier.
So, since there are 10 perfumes in here, let me tell you what I think about each of them.
004 Bad Girl – inspired by Attar Queen of Sheba, is the one that I completely disliked. I don’t know how the original smells and I don’t care to know. This one is sickening sweet and annoyingly persistent. Not my cup of of team, but maybe for others.
017 Escentric One – inspired by Escentric Molecules Escentric 01 is a unisex perfume, but more on the masculine side for me, so I wouldn’t choose it. This is also quite persistent.
019 Musc Roses – inspired by Montale Roses Musk is one of the perfumes that I liked because I love rose perfumes in general and this one is one that smells good. It’s on my list to purchase a full size.
020 Coffe Intenso – inspired by Montale Cafe Intense (and yes, I noticed the misspelled words in English as well in the names of these perfumes) smells like sugar and coffee and I don’t mind it. This one is a maybe on my list because I liked it but I’m not totally convinced to get the full size.
022 Kirke Scent – inspired by Tiziana Terenzi Kirke is a perfume that didn’t attract me at first, but it is a rather unique scent, something that made me love it once it settled on the skin throughout the day. I would get it because I feel like it’s the type of intriguing perfume that would have everyone asking what I wear. It’s a strong scent, but the tropical fruit notes are so spot on for the summer.
029 Wood Sage – inspired by Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt is another unisex perfume that seems to be more on the masculine side but on certain days I could play with it. However, it’s also just in the maybe pile because I’m not that eager to have it in my collection.
058 Dear Poly – inspired by Vilhelm Parfumerie Dear Polly, is on the definitely no pile. It just smells like and old lady’s perfume to me, too many dark notes in this like the black tea, the bergamot, the amber…..it’s just a heavy mixture. It’s also too masculine. Or is it supposed to be masculine? Honestly, I have no idea it’s just a no.
064 Darkman – inspired by Kilian Bad Boys Are No Good But Good Boys Are No Fun is definitely a masculine perfume although it’s also marketed as unisex. However, it’s sweeter than the Dear Poly one and I could see it being worn by a woman as well. To be honest, it’s a sexy smell, for him or her, either way. It’s on my maybe list.
065 Viking Princess – inspired by Kilian Princess is my favorite perfume out of the bunch (and no, it’s not the name but it does really suit me well). It’s a floral-fruity scent with some gourmand notes in it and it makes me think about a delicious dessert, something that I would hope people also see in me. One can hope, right? It’s the first perfume I’m going to buy, probably within the next week because I did fell in love with it.
072 Sandal 33 – obviously misspelled again and obviously inspired by Le Labo Santal 33 is a nice perfume, but a little bit too woody for my taste. It’s not even in the maybe pile for me because the cedar note is the one I can feel the most and it’s not for me. For a man, yes, it smells good. But for me it’s too masculine.
So there you have it, these are all the perfumes from my sample set. I was pleasantly surprised by the longevity of these perfumes regardless if on the skin or on the clothes and I definitely want to get some full sizes of these. So far, out of the bunch there are 3 perfumes that I didn’t like (2 of them because they were too masculine), 2 that I want to buy and 5 that are on the maybe list (and probably I will get a couple of those too). So overall it was an interesting experience and I do think it helps to get sample sets for perfumes to see what you like and what you don’t. Often, you don’t get value for your money because usually you could get samples here and there for free, but if it’s a new brand, like it happened for me with Lorinna, you should definitely get some samples first instead of just purchasing in blind.
