Alverde Clear Face Toner review

Since I’m trying my best to treat my skin issues with affordable skin care products, I decided to try this face toner as well. For one, because I had a coupon for 25% off at Alverde products in DM stores and second because I didn’t have a toner in my skin care routine and I wanted to include one.

Packaging:

The face toner comes in a white plastic bottle that contains 200 ml. It’s a simple bottle with a green design, which is consistent with the design of Alverde products in general.

Texture:

The toner has a light pink color because of the clay it contains and it has a watery consistence. I apply it wit cotton pads since it’s not like a serum or an essence to be able to use my hands.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Alcohol, Kaolin, Glycerin, Zinc Oxide, Loess, Zinc PCA, Cimicifuga Racemosa Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Levulinic Acid, Galactoarabinan, Maltodextrin, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Hydroxide, Lactic Acid, Parfum (Natural Essential Oils), Linalool, Citronellol, CI77491, CI77492, CI77499

I love the clay, the glycerin, the zinc and the natural extracts in it (the black cohosh root extract and the green tea leaf extract), but it’s a shame that alcohol is the second ingredient on the list.

Price and accessibility:

Alverde products are available exclusively in DM stores at the price of around 3 euros, which is really affordable. I should also note that I don’t think that face toners in general are products that should be expensive because their formula is really simple.

My overall opinion:

I hate to say it but I don’t like this toner and I will not repurchase it because of the high alcohol content. I don’t think that alcohol is necessarily bad as an ingredient, especially if you don’t have dry or sensitive skin, but I noticed that it does dry out my skin. The skin feels too tight and dry even if I use it only once a day, in the evening, because I follow up with a serum and a more nourishing face cream.

So, because of the alcohol, I don’t recommend this toner. It reminds me too much of old toners that we used to have when I was a teenager for acne prone skin that were all doing only just one thing: make the skin too dry like if the skin is not oily there’s no chance of getting acne. And we all know that it’s not the case.
