I neglected to wear sunscreen lately and believe it or not I had the impression that my skin looks aged. So, I decided to use again a daily sunscreen especially now that it’s summer (I know we should use it all the time, I was being dumb). I was very happy with the sunscreen I used last year, but since I’m on a tighter budget with my skin care and all, I was on the hunt for cheaper alternatives and this one sounded promising because it’ s a ”matte” sunscreen.
Sundance is a DM brand, so it’s very affordable. The products are made mostly in Germany, like this sunscreen as well.
Packaging:
The sunscreen comes in an orange and yellow plastic tube that contains 50 ml. I know it looks dirty because it is dirty and all the products in the store were the same so I’m thinking this was an issue due to shipment and/or storage conditions.
Texture:
The sunscreen has a light texture, so it absorbs fast into the skin, a slight yellow hue and a citrusy scent. It doesn’t look white on the face so that’s not an issue and the scent fades away quickly.
Ingredients:
Aqua, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Glycerin, Dibutyl Adipate, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Titanium Dioxide (nano), Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Oryza Sativa Bran Cera, Panthenol, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides, Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Tocopheryl Acetate, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Saccharide Isomerate, Cellulose, Hydroxyacetophenone, Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid, Helianthus Annuus Seed Cera, Parfum, Caprylyl Glycol, Potassium Hydroxide, Succinoglycan, Decylene Glycol, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Disodium EDTA, Xanthan Gum, Limonene, Citric Acid, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Chloride, Benzyl Alcohol, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil
Being it a sunscreen it contains chemical UV filters, but no octocrilen. It also contains hydrating ingredients such as glycerin, panthenol and squalane.
Price and accessibility:
Sundance products are available only in DM stores and through their online shop. It’s very cheap for a sunscreen especially with such a high SPF. I got it for about 3.5 euros and it really doesn’t get any cheaper than that.
My overall opinion:
The good thing is that is seems to do a good job as an SPF because I didn’t get sunburnt and I have very sensitive skin when it comes to that, the skin does feel very hydrated and soft and it doesn’t have a white cast. Plus, the price is really all you can wish for, affordable for anyone.
The bad thing is this isn’t a matte sunscreen. They say it doesn’t make the face look oily but it does. I use a matte foundation on top and/or powder because otherwise I would look really shiny. I don’t mind a bit of glow because I don’t like to have dull skin either, but the claim that this is a ”matte” sunscreen is really I don’t want to say false, but a little bit farfetched.
I certainly will purchase other SPFs especially if I find them on sale, but when I’m short on money I will repurchase this one because it gets the job done and it doesn’t clog the pores or anything. It’s just a bit shinier than I would have wanted it.
