Nivea Soft Cream review, an oldie but a goldie

Since I’m currently going through a ”I want to simplify my skin care routine as much as possible” phase, I wanted to try something from the past, the good old Nivea cream. I know the blue tin is everyone’s favorite but it is just too thick for me, so I reached for the Soft version. I remember the good old days when I would use this in high school as a moisturizer and I felt so bougie because it was a cream from Germany and that already seemed promising enough. God, what days we had back then! We were excited to have some cheap cream from Germany.

Packaging:

This cream is available in different sizes, 50 ml jars, 75 ml jars, 100 ml jars, 200 ml jars and 300 ml jars. I started with the smallest one because I wanted to see if I liked it first before I would commit to a large size.

Texture:

This really is a light cream, it absorbs fast into the skin and it has that specific Nivea scent. I do like it, but it’s important to note that Nivea products in general have a strong scent, so they might be irritating for people with sensitive skin.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Glycerin, Myristyl Alcohol, Alcohol Denat., Myristyl Myristate, Cetearyl Glucoside, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Glyceryl Stearate, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, Vegetable Oil, Cetyl Ricinoleate, Triisostearin, Sorbitan Stearate, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Sodium Hydroxide, Cetearyl Alcohol, Gellan Gum, Xanthan Gum, Myristic Acid, Arachidic Acid, Oleic Acid, Lauric Acid, Disodium Cetearyl Sulfosuccinate, Phenoxyethanol, Linalool, Citronellol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Acetyl Cedrene, Citrus Aurantium Peel Oil, Limonene, Terpineol, Lavandula Oil/Extract, Linalyl Acetate, Parfum

The formula is vegan and it contains 95% ingredients of natural origin. The key ingredients are vitamin E and jojoba oil. It promises to provide hydration for up to 48 hours and it’s suitable for all skin types.

Price and accessibility:

Nivea products are available everywhere, from beauty stores to online shops and from pharmacies to supermarkets. I got this one from my local DM store for about 3 euros, and the larger the size, the affordable the price is for this cream.

My overall opinion:

As long as you don’t have any expectations from this cream to address certain skin concerns, it’s a very good moisturizer. I quite enjoy using it in the evening and the skin is very soft each time.

I would say that if you’re on a budget and you don’t want something fancy, just a good old cream to moisturize the skin, this one is great for the body, the hands and even for the face. I didn’t have any issues with it, it didn’t cause break outs or irritations. So yes, I would say that a Nivea cream comes handy for anyone, regardless if it’s this Soft version or the classic thick Nivea cream.
