Usually I don’t do reviews on shower gels and I just used to put them in my empties posts, because a shower gel is just a hygiene product for me. You use it to get clean and maybe it smells nice while you’re doing it, but that’s about it.
However, I want to give a shout out to this shower gel from Merreh because I truly feel like I’m being pampered when I’m using it.
I got this shower gel in this month’s Bellebox and although I thought it’s a French brand it’s not. The products are made in France, but Merreh is a Bulgarian brand founded by two sisters (there seems to be a lot of these brands in Bulgaria, but hey, I don’t want to put them down or anything).
Packaging:
We got the plastic tube packaging which contains 200 ml, but I saw on the brand’s website that this shower gel is available in a bottle with a pump. So I don’t know if this is just old packaging or if it was a special edition for the beauty box. However, the quantity is just the same. Personally I prefer bottles because they are easier to use while in the shower (I tend to drop tubes in the bath tub all the time because my hands are so slippery).
Texture:
The shower gel has a thick consistency and it looks clear, but it has a very nice smell. Actually, that’s what made me decide to do a review on this shower gel, but more on that later.
Ingredients:
Aqua, Vitis vinifera seed oil, Simmondsia chinensis Oil, Aloe barbadensis extract, Xanthan gum, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Lactobacillus ferment, Vitis Vinifera leaf extract, Vitis Vinifera seed extract, Oryza sativa /rice/ protein, Fragrance (natural oil combination – allergen free)
The key ingredients are jojoba oil, grape seed oil, aloe extract and rice protein. The fragrance although not mentioned seems to be a blend of essential oils (as far as my nose can tell) so that’s why it smells so nice. Probably it’s a specific blend and that’s why they don’t want to have it listed in the formula.
Price and accessibility:
Merreh products are not available in Romania as far as I can tell, which is a shame, but this shower gel is sold on the brand’s website for 14 euros. It’s a bit much for a shower gel to be honest, but I used mine just once a week, when I do my ”spa night” with a long hot bath, hair and face masks and all the good stuff. So, for a pampering session now and then, I think it’s worth it.
My overall opinion:
I did this review because of….the scent. It’s just like any shower gel, but the scent is so beautiful, it reminds of that ”rich people” perfume. I don’t know what it is, but it’s a balanced combination, not too sweet, not too floral, not too citrusy. So yes, maybe it’s just a shallow thing to consider, but if you want to fell pampered during your bath or your shower, I suggest looking into Merreh products. This shower gel is from the white grape line, but they seem to have other interesting products as well also so maybe I’ll get to try more through the beauty box subscription.
