I’ll start to review the products from this month’s Bellebox with a product that I so wanted to love, but unfortunately it was not a match made in heaven.
I also wanted to love the product because the brand sound so interesting. Huygens is an organic beauty brand founded in 2013 by Daan and Sebastien. They started to create their products in an abandoned alchemist’s house from the 17th century. Doesn’t that sound so whimsical and magical? They had their breakthrough in 2015 when they were promoted by French supermodel and fashion designer Ines ed la Fressage. Another two years later, the brand started to expand on the international markets.
Packaging:

The lash booster comes in a black tube and it has a wand just like any regular mascara. Despite the size of the tube, it doesn’t contain much product, just 3.5 ml.
Texture:
The lash booster also looks like a regular black mascara. It’s a bit on the thick side, but it doesn’t make the lashes look clumpy. It’s like putting on a mascara that is barely there. In expected to have longer and fuller lashes just from this alone, even without putting on a coat of mascara.
Ingredients:
I couldn’t find the entire ingredients list, but the key ingredients in this lash booster are cressatine (a plant-based active ingredient that promotes hair growth), plant-based keratin and castor oil. It doesn’t contain any fragrance or alcohol.
Price and accessibility:
Huygens is not a brand available in Romania to my knowledge and I didn’t even heard about it until I got to use this lash booster. On the brand’s online shop, this is listed for 20.50 euros, which is more than other drugstore lash boosters that I used so far, but the price tag would have been acceptable if my lashes would look amazing with this.
My overall opinion:
I’m sorry to say but after just one week of trying to make this product work, I dumped in the trash. I doesn’t do anything for the lashes. I didn’t expect to see them grow over night, but I thought it would help the mascara coat them better to make them appear longer and fuller. That wasn’t the case. Also, I don’t know if the tube is just too narrow for the wand or if it’s the formula or what but whenever I put the wand back in the tube a lot of product just squirted along the rim and would make a mess. And for that reason I stopped using it altogether. I would continue to use it even if it didn’t do much for the lashes just because it was there, but I didn’t want to deal with the black mess anymore. So I’m sorry to say, but I wouldn’t recommend this product.
