Welcome to another episode of the little quest I like to call ”Oana tries all kind of shampoos in hope that she will find some miracle product along the way”. To be honest, I didn’t expect much from this shampoo because it was a free gift that I got from the pharmacy, so I can’t be too mad about it. Also, it’s for curly hair and I don’t have curly hair, but I don’t really care.
Genera Cosmetici is an Italian brand founded in 1983 that has different lines of products that are affordable while emphasizing natural beauty and natural ingredients. It’s not an all natural brand, but they tend to use gentle formulas, that are suitable for every person and hat offer products for basic needs.
Packaging:
The shampoo comes in a plastic bottle that contains a generous amount of 500 ml. The labels use different colors in their design, depending on the range. For example, the products for curly hair have purple and white labels.
Texture:
This looks like a milky shampoo, but it has a thin consistency, so I do tend to use a slightly larger amount than what I usually use, so that’s why the big bottle is actually quite handy.
Ingredients:
I couldn’t find an ingredient list for this shampoo and I couldn’t be bothered to copy it from the bottle, but I guess the key ingredients are right there in the title, you know? Panthenol and silk protein to make the hair feel smooth and silky which I guess can be a problem sometimes for curly hair.
Price and accessibility:
Genera is another brand that is available exclusively in the Catena pharmacies and in the Spring Farma online shop, at least here in Romania. I got this shampoo as a gift when I went one time to get the medicines from my husband’s monthly prescription. I don’t know for how much they sell it at Catena, but it’s around 3 euros on the Spring Farma online shop, so this a very cheap shampoo. And I’m probably crazy because I used it but these days I’ll use anything I get for free because I have to do some savings and I can’t be picky.
My overall opinion:
I don’t know what this does for curly hair or if it’s a good shampoo for that hair type. For me, it’s ok. It doesn’t do anything special for my hair but at least it doesn’t make it look greasy and it doesn’t weigh it down, so I’m happy about that. I do have to wash my hair after 2 days tops, but I don’t mind it because I alternate it with another shampoo and I do wash my hair every other day, skipping a day just when I’m really tired.
So I don’t know if I would necessarily recommend it because it’s not for my hair type and all, but I would say that if you’re on a budget, these Genera shampoos may be actually decent as long as you don’t expect hair salon quality.
