Lovely experience with Lovely Makeup

lovely-makeup-products-review

I think you know by now I love my drugstore brands and I’m not the type of person who forks out a lot of money for makeup products because I simply think there are plenty of very affordable makeup products that do their job and I like trying new things so I want to expand my makeup collection.

One of the brands I came across recently is Lovely Makeup. This is a Polish makeup brand which I think is sold not only in drugstores but also in supermarkets. I found it in an online shop here in Romania and I just had to try a couple of things from them because they are very cheap. The prices are similar to those of essence cosmetics. This isn’t a full brand review because I only have two products, but my first experiences with them are very positive so I will definitely try some other stuff as well.

white-chocolate-rice-powder

White Chocolate Rice powder

This comes in a cute packaging and it looks like a white chocolate. It also smells a little like chocolate, but not too much, so it’s not something that I think anyone would mind. Granted, the cardboard packaging seems a little flimsy so I wouldn’t just toss it in a makeup bag and call it a day because it might not stay closed.

It contains rice powder and it’s translucent, so it’s not like you actually end up with white powder on the face. It has a mattifying effect. The packaging claims up to 16 hours, but I don’t know if that’s really true. I have combination to oily skin and for me, it works just fine. I love translucent powders because I don’t have to worry about matching the color to my skin tone when I’m fair or if I’m a little tanned.

You do get a little less product than usually for powders because it contains only 9 grams – most powder I have owned have at least 10  and the majority had 15 grams. However, it’s affordable. I bought it for 28 lei, which is about 6 euros.

They also have bronzers and a banana powder in the same type of packaging, but I have enough bronzers for now and honestly, I don’t really know how to use banana powders.

Choco Bons eyeshadow palette

Of course, when I saw this cute little palette I just had to order it. It contains 7 matte eyeshadows. The color scheme is not something that is very exciting and I already own these colors, but it looked so cute and it also has a vague chocolate scent, so I love it. I like scented makeup, what can I say.

The packaging is again, not something special, but the plastic case is alright, you can travel with it. It comes with one of those sponge tip applicators, but I never use them, I prefer brushes. I did some swatches, but I know colors can look different in pictures, so I’ll do my best to describe them.

The first shade is a creamy white, perfect for a base color. Next two colors are a beige similar to the color of cafe-au-lait and a pinky-peachy shade. I would use both of them for the crease. Next up is an orange shade, but not too bright. The last three shades are the darker shades of the palette – a purple, a royal blue, and a black.

I have used the palette to create some looks with it and I was pleasantly surprised by how these eyeshadows performed. They are easy to blend, they are not chalky, although they seem hard in the pan and you have to dig your brush a little and I had no fallout. The color payoff is also great. I was surprised at how intense the black is, especially since it’s a matte eyeshadow. The only eyeshadow that doesn’t perform so well is the royal blue. I find it to be patchy and I have difficulties to make it look good, probably because I don’t have the greatest makeup skills. Other than that, I’m very happy with this palette and I would definitely try some more. They also have a similar palette called Peach Desire that smells like peaches, because you know chocolate and peaches were the scents that Too Faced made popular in makeup and now drugstore brands are copying them.

The eyeshadow palette contains 6 grams and I bought it for 23 lei, which is about 4,5 euros. I think it’s a great price for 7 shades.

Both products are actually made in China for Lovely Makeup. I don’t know if they’re vegan, but I do think they’re cruelty-free because as far as I could tell they’re not sold in China and European cosmetic companies are not allowed to test on animals.

Overall, I like the products from Lovely Makeup and I’m looking forward to buying some more, depending on what products I will be able to find.
