New beauty launches for September 2018

ecooking

So I thought I would do these monthly, as a form of including my wishlist and an anti-haul at the same time. I will refer to beauty launches in Romania since let’s be honest here, I’m not gonna buy stuff online from other countries because I’m not willing to pay a lot for shipping and in some cases for customs duty. I will refer to what is being launched in the makeup stores here – the main being Sephora, Marionnaud and Douglas and for drugstore releases, I will check what’s new at DM stores and in the biggest cosmetics online shops. Of course, I can’t cover everything that launches so I will make an overview of the products that seem interesting to me in a good or bad way.

fenty-launch

Fenty Beauty

Exactly after one year since its launch, Fenty Beauty has arrived at Sephora Romania. I won’t buy anything from this range because the products are too expensive for me to buy them just to try them out. The foundations have a great shade range, but I’m not so crazy about an extremely matte finish, plus I usually buy only drugstore foundations because I don’t want to pay much for a product that I’ll be using only for a couple of weeks. The highlighters are also a no-buy for me because I’m a more subtle highlighter kind of girl and I’m not into shine bright like a diamond – pun intended – kind of glow. I liked the colors in the Galaxy palette, but not the fact that they’re basically just light shimmers – sorry, eyeshadow toppers, a product that I don’t get and have no use for. Everything else is just not interesting to me.

linterdit-givenchy

L’Interdit perfume by Givenchy

This one launches in a couple of days, but I have already received a sample with an order from Sephora. I think it’s a reformulation or repackaging or something of a classic perfume from the house of Givenchy. But don’t quote me on that. It smells sexy and delicious and I kinda want it, or at least a travel size or something smaller.

joy-dior

Joy perfume by Dior

Another recent addition to Sephora is the Joy perfume, of which I also have received a sample. I can feel the rose notes is it, but in combination with the jasmine, it seems to be more oriental. I’m not really a fan, but if I were to receive it as a gift, I would most likely use it.

set-de-pensule-pentru-fata-si-ochi

Sephora Collection brush sets

They have 3 sets of brushes that come in a pouch. One has 5 brushes, one has 8, and the biggest has 10 brushes. They look cute, but for prices varying between 48 euros and 74 euros, no thanks.

feline-instinct-palette

Sephora Collection Feline Instinct eyeshadow palette

The color story is not something new. It comes in two options, the Gold palette with reds and burgundies and the Dark palette for smokey eyes. I like the packaging and the layout of the palettes, but I have these colors already, so I’m no tempted to pick one up. For around 21 euros you get 12 shades which are pretty good, but like I said, not for me.

paleta-farduri-de-obraz

Zoeva palettes

Sephora started carrying just recently a few eyeshadow palettes from the Zoeva brand and – spoiler alert – I already got my hands on one of them, which I will review probably in the next couple of days. For now, they only have 2 travel palettes, the Cocoa Blend and the Caramel Melange one and the Opulence blush palette.

snow-doll-brow-face-mascara-mini-kit

Benefit makeup kits

Sephora also has 4 new kits from Benefit, with various products. They seem interesting for those who want to try the brand. They contain 4 mini-sized products. I like the Parisian Pin-Up one and the Snow Doll one, but I don’t want to spend 38 euros for some mini-sized products.

ecooking

Ecooking skin care

This range of skin care products launched at Douglas and it seems interesting because they contain organic ingredient and many if not all of them are vegan. This is a Danish brand, so it’s something new that I could try, but at around 40 euros for a face cream, no thanks. I can’t afford to spend so much just on skin care products.

teez-palette

Teeez eyeshadow palettes

This is another European makeup brand sold at Douglas, but they have prices similar to high-end makeup, so I don’t think it’s something that I would buy. I had an eyeliner from Teeez once that I received in a beauty box and I liked it very much. They have very colorful products and fun packaging in general. The two new eyeshadow palettes are called Riot Bold and Riot Extreme and are priced at around 53 euros each.

pretty-vulgar

Pretty Vulgar makeup

Pretty Vulgar also launched only recently in Romania, I believe somewhere in August, if I’m not mistaken, but I wanted to include them because they were kind of a big deal here. They are also sold in Douglas stores. I like how the packaging looks an I would certainly like to own one of those birdcage eyeshadow palettes, but at a price point of around 32 euros each, I don’t think I would buy them because I heard the quality is not better than any other drugstore eyeshadows.

douglas-palette

Douglas Make-up eyeshadow palettes

These are very affordable. The ones with 6 eyeshadows cost around 9 euros each and the ones with 16 eyeshadows cost around 13 euros but my God are they boring. The large ones seem to have a gradient of the same color over and over again and while I do tend to like neutral palettes, I need at least a little variety.

thebalm-foiled-again

theBalm Foiled Again eyeshadow palette

I haven’t tried the formula of theBalm’s foiled eyeshadow, but the other two palettes I have from them didn’t impress me much, so I’m not feeling like paying around 36 euros for this.

petal-metal-highlighter

Smashbox Petal Metal collection

I can’t tell you how bad I want this. I love how the Cover Shot eyeshadow palette looks and those highlighters…to die for. I’m a sucker for rose-gold anything and I want to have them just because of the packaging. Stupid, I know. The only thing that’s stopping me is the price. I won’t buy anything high-end unless it’s something I really want, it’s unique and adds value to my makeup collection. For me, to buy just that palette and one highlighter I would have to save some money for a couple of months and don’t buy anything else make-up related, which is hard for me.

thebalm-palette-trio-nude-beach-highlight-n-contour

theBalm Beach face palette

Speaking of theBalm, I also saw this highlight and contour palette available, but this time at Marionnaud. Considering my experiences with their eyeshadows, I won’t be buying this one either. I do have to say that I love their cute packaging. This face palette is about 22 euros.

MITOMO-Masca-de-fata-Mitomo-Green-Tea-Essence

Mitomo face masks

At Marionnaud I saw they got this new – at least to my knowledge new to them – face masks from the Japanese brand Mitomo. They have various types, at affordable prices. For examples, the ones from the Essence line are about 3-4 euros, while the ones from the Premium line are about 4-4,5 euros. If I’ll place an order with Marionnaud for something, I will probably try a couple of these face masks.

galactic-chocolate-palette

Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palettes

So we got some new palettes from Makeup Revolution, but since they always come out with so many, I’ll just tell you my opinion on each of them real quick.

24 Gold Chocolate palette – cute, just like the other but the colors don’t make me want to buy it.

Galactic Chocolate palette – it looks interesting, but from what I saw when youtubers used it, those swirled eyeshadows become a single color once you dip your brush into them a couple of times, so it’s nothing special.

Revolution X Imogenation – too many of the same shades, just a neutral with a pop of blue. And I don’t know who that beauty guru is, so I’m not inclined to support her. Sorry for that.

Revolution X Kisu – I found out about Kisu through this collab and I did subscribe to her YT channel just to have more European-based makeup gurus to follow, but the palette is not appealing to me. Again, I just find it a little too boring.

Revolution by Petra – too many colors, I would get lost because I wouldn’t know what to do with it.

Re-loaded palette in Newtrals – I am tempted to pick this one up because it has lots of pinks and berry tones and I simply love pink eyeshadows. Plus, it’s very affordable, only about 6 euros.

loreal-paris-preference

L’Oreal Paris Preference hair color

They came out with some new colors and I can definitely tell you want to pick up the Chocolate Rose color because I need to color my hair next month – I already have grey hairs bu-hu.

loreal-paris-eyeshadow-mega-palette-berry-much-love

L’Oreal Berry Much Love and Cherry My Cherie eyeshadow palettes

Now, I don’t know if both are scented or not, but I am kind of intrigued by them. The Cherry My Cherrie one doesn’t seem like something I need in my collection, but those colors in the Berry Much Love palette look so nice, some of them seem to be cool-toned and it just screams autumn makeup to me. I might pick this one up if I can buy it on sale or something. I saw it in the Aoro online shop and they have regular promotions on L’Oreal products.

maybelline-lemonade-craze

Maybelline Lemonade Craze eyeshadow palette

Seems interesting and I saw some cool eye looks created with it, but I’m just not attracted by the color scheme.

So these are about all the new beauty launches I know of. Some of them may be from last month as well, since this is my first post of this type and I wasn’t able to tell exactly what was brand new just by checking the new arrivals section on various websites, but starting with next month I will be able to have a more clear overview of new beauty launches. So far, I already decided to pick up a couple of things, but you can never know what I will end up buying or not buying. For any new products I may test out, you will definitely find reviews on my blog.
