I know that scent in makeup products is an issue for most people. Some people love it and buy some products just because they are scented – I’m looking at you Too Faced – while other can’t stand it. I must say, I’m in the first category. I don’t have a large collection of scented makeup products, but the ones I have are all products that I love partially because they have a nice scent. For me, makeup is something that I put on because it makes me feel better. I don’t have many skin issues and I don’t have to wear makeup for my job, so I could simply not use it, but it’s something that makes me feel good, even though I don’t always play with color and do very complex looks – I don’t have the time and patience for that.
So far, from what I’ve tried, one of my favorite brands in this area is Bourjois. Their products always have a nice packaging and they look and feel like high-end makeup, even though it’ drugstore. These are the scented makeup products that I have gathered so far and I don’t plan to stop.

Bourjois Delice De Poudre bronzing powder
I can’t say who came with the idea of having a chocolate scented bronzer – Bourjois or Too Faced, but I have the Bourjois one and I absolutely love it. It comes in a cardboard packaging with magnetic closure, it looks like a chocolate bar and it smells delicious. I still have the protective foil on it because I try to preserve the scent for as long as possible. This bronzer is on the warm side and it has very tiny gold speckles in it, but I like how it applies because it’s not too pigmented and not extremely glittery. I would definitely repurchase it when it’s gone, but I don’t know when that will happen because I barely made a dent in it and I have it for a long time.

Bourjois Poudre de riz de Java illuminating powder
I have this powder in the special anniversary packaging because it was released when the brand celebrated 150 years since this powder was first launched on the market. It has a floral scent, but not the kind that smells like an old lady, rather like a very nice perfume. It’s a translucent shimmery loose powder that I use as a highlighter because it gives that subtle effect that I like – I’m not a fan of glittery, blinding highlighters and I also like to pat it on lightly in the undereye area because it brightens up the eyes.

Burjois Little Round Pot Duo Blush
I received this in my Marie Claire beauty box and I also fell in love with it because it’s shimmery but very subtle. One side is as pinky-golden blush and the other is a bronzer, both baked, but I usually mix the two colors and use it as a blush. It has a very similar floral scent to the illuminating powder, which I like and it feels so soft and light on the skin, which makes me think that all their face products are like that.

Bottega Verde coconut fragranced bronzing powder
I reviewed the Bottega Verde bronzing powder on my blog so I won’t repeat myself. All I can say is that I still used it since then and I still like it very much. Compared with the Bourjois one, it’s more pigmented, so I need to use it with a light hand.

Lovely White Chocolate Rice powder and Lovely Choco Bons eyeshadow palette
I also did a review on these Lovely makeup products on my blog, but I do have to say I’m not that impressed with the eyeshadows anymore because they become patchy if you’re not careful. Both products smell like chocolate, but it’s a more synthetic scent.
Yves Rocher Rouge Vertige lipstick
I’ve talked about this limited edition Oui A L’Amour lipstick that is part of this line in my best and worst of Yves Rocher post. I included it here because it also has a floral scent to it, that is more potent than in most lipsticks – since lip products, in general, have a certain scent.
All these products don’t have a lingering scent so it doesn’t become bothersome. Part of the reason why I love them is that they smell nice. I know people with allergies or with sensitive skin can’t use scented makeup, so I understand why all these products are not suited for them. But for me, the scent is an important factor and it affects my decision to buy or not buy something.
I’m curious to see if I’m alone on this and if everyone hates using scented makeup products so I would love to hear your opinion on this.

I think the scent is an important part of the experience. Fragrance is an irritate, so it is actually better to do without. But hey, if it isn’t causing a reaction, there’s nothing stopping you.
That Bourjois bronzer will last forever *LOL* that pan is huge~~

Hi, Joyce. Yes, I also believe that as long as it isn’t causing a reaction, fragrance can be pleasant in makeup products. Thank you for stopping by!
