Borotalco Original Deodorant Stick review

I’m usually not picky when it comes to body products, meaning I don’t care much about shower gels, body lotions or soaps because I’ll use whatever I have at hand. With deodorants, on the other hand, it’s a different issue. I want to use something that really prevents me from sweating much – yes, I have this problem during winter as well – something that doesn’t irritate the skin because I prefer to shave my underarms, something that doesn’t stain my clothes with white residues and something with a nice scent that is not too overpowering to mix with my perfume. You would think it shouldn’t be difficult to find a deodorant like that, but it is because many formulas and ingredients are either not efficient enough or not gentle enough on my skin.

So, I decided to try this deodorant because I heard some good things about this brand. Borotalco is an Italian brand. This boro-talco thing was discovered first in 1878 by Henry Roberts and since 1904 it’s sold as a powder in Italy. The powder was used as an aftershave, as a cosmetic powder for women and as a baby powder. It’s a micro talc that absorbs perspiration and protects the skin. These deodorants don’t contain alcohol which is great.

What is also characteristic of this deodorant is the scent, a mix of flowers and citrus, but it’s not too strong as to mix with other perfumes. If I don’t wear a perfume I feel like I have that clean scent on me, which is great.

Another positive quality is that it doesn’t stain my clothes, a problem I usually have with stick deodorants. I wore it with black clothes as well and I didn’t have any issues.

I know we all sweat and it’s normal to sweat so I don’t believe in those claims like 24 h freshness or 48 hours freshness. For one, I don’t want to be near someone who doesn’t shower for 48 hours, if they have the possibility to do it. But it is efficient as far as I can tell for now because obviously, I didn’t test it during summer to know how it works during the heat, but for me, it’s enough to apply it in the morning and in the evening. Honestly, I don’t know if it has aluminum or not as I know this is an issue for many people because I can’t read the ingredients in the very tiny writing.

To sum up everything, the Borotalco Original deodorant stick has the following qualities

  • antiperspirant
  • stain-free
  • no alcohol
  • doesn’t irritate the skin
  • very nice scent
  • affordable price

Overall, I would recommend it if you find it. It’s only around 3 euros and I think I got it for about 2,5 euros in a DM store.
