Too Faced Tutti Frutti Sparkling Pineapple eyeshadow palette & Juicy Fruits Comfort Lip Glaze review

Like any makeup lover, I do like higher end products, but I’m not willing to pay full price for them. So when I saw last summer’s Tutti Frutti collection on sale in our online Sephora shop, I had to pick up a couple of things. Although it’s a limited edition collection, I don’t have a problem with that because I don’t need the latest products on the market. I buy what is appealing to me regardless when it came out.

I picked up an eyeshadow palette because these are my biggest weakness when it comes to makeup and a lip gloss because I can always use one of those as I prefer them to lipsticks. I wanted to try out something from Too Faced and I also liked the design of the products very much. So, after playing around with the product for the last couple of weeks, I formed my opinion on them.

Too Faced Juicy Fruits Comfort Lip Glaze

I picked up the shade Home Slice because it’s a pinky-mauvy color that I think looks good on me, not too light and not too dark. The formula is really comfortable, it feels moisturizing on the lips and it’s not too sticky. This shade doesn’t have a metallic finish, I would say it’s a shimmery lip gloss with very fine shimmer particles. It’s not long-lasting and I don’t think it’s as opaque as it claims to be in the producer’s description, but I like it anyway. It has a sugary-vanila scent, but it doesn’t bother me because I do like scented products as long as the scent is not too strong.

I don’t love it as much as to say that I want to have other shades as well, but it’s creamy, it feels nice, I like the color, so I’m happy with my purchase.

First of all, the packaging is gorgeous! It’s a sturdy plastic case with a cute pineapple design, with glitter on top that doesn’t come off and with a mirror. I love small and medium-sized palettes because they’re easy to use and I don’t get overwhelmed because I don’t know how to do color combinations. I chose this palette because the Raspberry one is beautiful but I know I won’t wear those colors often. I’m mostly a neutral girl because that’s the type of makeup I wear to work, 5 days a week and on weekends I don’t wear makeup unless I go out.

The palette contains 7 shades in different formulas: mattes, metallics, satin and glittery shades. Like you would expect from Too Faced, it does smell like pineapples. Let’s talk about the colors:

All-focus

  • Yum Yum – a matte crease shade that oddly enough has the same color as my skin, so it’s very subtle that’s why it doesn’t even show up in the photo (sorry for that, I did my best).
  • Coconut Sugar – a cool-toned light cream shade with a satin finish.
  • Passports & Pineapples – rich matte warm brown shade, a mush have in every neutral palette.
  • Sparkling Pineapple – I think this is supposed to be the glittery shade. It’s a beautiful golden shade that can be applied with a brush or with the finger.
  • Island Queen – the stand out shade in the palette, or the “pop of color” as you may call it is a shimmery green that also seems to be duo-chrome because it looks light green or dark yellow, depending on the light.
  • Tutti Cutie – Mate dark brown to smoke out the corner of the eye.
  • Pineapple Cooler – the highlighting shade, with a metallic finish.

The last shade is also the most problematic for me because it has a very unusual texture. While the other shades are buttery and easy to apply and to blend, this one has that weird putty texture and I can only apply it with my finger, otherwise it just wouldn’t stick on the brush.

Now, as for my final thoughts: do I like this palette? Yes, I love it and I’m very glad to have it in my collection and it definitely opened up my appetite for other Too Faced eyeshadows. What can I say? I’m a sucker for cute packaging. Would I recommend it? Look, it’s not something that you NEED to have if you already have several neutral palettes, but if you’re just a makeup lover like I am and the palette seems appealing to you, I liked the formula and the color story, not to mention the packaging, so I would say it’s a nice addition to an eyeshadow palette collection.
