This is the last product I’m reviewing that I got in my January Lookfantastic box (well actually it was a gift I got for subscribing for 12 months) because I wanted to use it first because it could form my opinion on it. The sample size lasted my for 3 weeks and like I did with the Ecooking serum, I only used it at night because it was a little more on the oily side for my combination skin and I didn’t want to look too shiny during the day.
Dr. Dennis Gross is a celebrity dermatologist from Manhattan, New York, and like many other dermatologists, he probably decided to create his own line of products. I’m gonna say his credentials are impressive, so I’m glad I was able to try one of his products. Dr Dennis Gross products are cruelty free and vegan, which is great!
Packaging:
I don’t know how much exactly was in the sample size, because it didn’t say on the packaging. The full size product is 60 ml, so I assume I got like 10-20 ml. It came in a simple glass jar with a plastic lid.
Texture:
The cream is white and it has a vague scent and a very liquidy texture. The good part is a little really does go a long way and it felt very moisturizing on the skin. It doesn’t feel greasy on the skin, but it does make me look too shiny for my liking, probably because of that glow effect it’s supposed to have.
Ingredients:
Alpha Beta® acids lift away dead skin cells, while toning and smoothing skin.
Squalane is an oil-free lipid that penetrates the skin completely without clogging pores or leaving a greasy residue. Its main benefit includes strengthening the skin’s barrier integrity and prevention of TEWL (transepidermal water loss).
Rehmannia Glutinosa Root Extract aids in preventing and repairing free radical damage and is known to soothe and reduce redness caused from allergens.
Water/Aqua/Eau, Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Squalane, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Methyl Gluceth-20, C15-19 Alkane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Propanediol, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium PCA, Malic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Citric Acid, Tartaric Acid, Rehmannia Glutinosa Root Extract, Ceramide NP, Sodium Hyaluronate, Saccharide Isomerate, Jojoba Esters, Bisabolol, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower/Leaf Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Rose Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Elettaria Cardamomum Seed Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Wood Extract, Cucumis Melo (Melon) Fruit Extract, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Flower Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract, Sanguisorba Officinalis Root Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tridecane, Isoamyl Laurate, Isohexadecane, Dicaprylyl Ether, Glycereth-26 , Ethylhexyl Olivate, Undecane, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, C13-15 Alkane , Polymethyl Methacrylate, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Polysorbate 20, Polysorbate 60, Tetrasodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Mica (CI 77019)
The ingredients list looks rather nice, I see lots of natural extracts in there and I know each of them has its own special qualities. The formula is rather complex and in combination with the synthetic ingredients, it looks rather unique.
Price and accessibility:
I don’t think these products are available in Romania, so they’re a little hard to obtain, probably just by ordering them online which adds the shipping and the longer waiting time. It’s also expensive. The full size product is sold on their website for 68 US dollars, which is a lot for me, even if you can get a lot of uses out of a jar.
My overall opinion:
I’m not gonna lie, I did see some changes in my skin, especially how it looked in the morning. The skin felt smooth and moisturized and it does help with the redness I have in certain areas on my face. It also did make my skin look glowier in a good way. I would say, if it were easier to get and if it didn’t cost that much, I would gladly continue to use this moisturizer, but since I tend to get through skin care products rather fast, I will stick to my drugstore products.
