So, Korres is a new brand that I got to try recently because I’ve seen them here and there and I know they have some cool lip balms that everyone loves and since a face mask came in my Lookfantastic box this month I was super happy because I just love face masks. I used it twice already and I think I have enough for another two uses.
Korres is a Greek cosmetics company that was founded by Giorgos Korres. Since he was a little boy, he loved to play with ingredients in his mother’s pharmacy and then he went to study pharmacology. However, Giorgos was more attracted to natural pharmacy ingredients and began to work with them to create natural remedies. In 1996, he launched his first product, a moisturizing and brightening face cream, under the name Korres (which I really like how it sounds, to be honest). The products were sold in Greek pharmacies until they became so popular locally that American investors took an interest in distributing them worldwide. Even now, Korres products use mainly natural ingredients from Greece, which I also love and furthermore, they are cruelty free. isn’t that a nice story or what?
Packaging:
The full size product come in a jar, but my sample size came in a plastic tube (which I actually prefer). Nothing fancy or anything, but the design has something that makes it appealing to the eye, at least for me.
Texture:
The face mask is white and has a thick consistency. It also has a light scent, but nothing too overpowering or over the top.
Ingredients:
aqua/water/eau, yogurt, glycerin, hexyldecyl stearate, diisostearyl malate, prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, squalane, c14-22 alcohols, isoamyl laurate, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, arachidyl alcohol, pentylene glycol, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, peg-100 stearate, aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder, algin, alpha-glucan oligosaccharide, arachidyl glucoside, ascorbyl palmitate, behenyl alcohol, bisabolol, c12-20 alkyl glucoside, caprylyl glycol, chlorella vulgaris extract, disodium phosphate, epigallocatechin gallatyl glucoside, ethylhexylglycerin, gallyl glucoside, glyceryl polyacrylate, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, hydrogenated palm glycerides, hydrogenated palm kernel glycerides, hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate, hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, lactic acid, lactobacillus, laminaria digitata extract, lecithin, lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) flower extract, lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) flower extract, maltodextrin, maris aqua/sea water/eau de mer, ozonized oryza sativa (rice) callus culture extract, phenethyl alcohol, polymnia sonchifolia root juice, potassium phosphate, propyl gallate, pullulan, saccharide isomerate, serine, sodium carboxymethyl beta-glucan, sodium hyaluronate, sodium polyacrylate starch, tetrasodium glutamate diacetate, tocopherol, trehalose, urea, zingiber officinale (ginger) root extract, benzyl alcohol, phenoxyethanol, salicylic acid, sorbic acid, parfum/fragrance.
Ok, so this is one long ingredients list. I like the inclusion of Greek yogurt, hyaluronic acid and plenty of botanical ingredients. Perfume is last on the list, so it really doesn’t bother me.
Price and accesibility:
In Romania, Korres products are available both in some stores and in online shops, so it’s not difficult to buy them. However, they are on the luxury cosmetics side, so it’s not something that I could afford to include in my regular skin care routine. This mask is like 50 US dollars, so….nope.
My overall opinion:
The mask feels very nice on the skin, it makes it feel soft and refreshed and I also feel like the yogurt in it has a calming effect. It’s easy to use, you just slap a thick layer of it on the skin and leave it there for 10-15 minutes. I like it and I would certainly buy the full size if it weren’t too expensive for my budget. I especially like the story behind the brand, the fact that it has a defined identity as a Greek brand and the ingredients used in their products.
