Avant Ultimate Hyaluronic Acid Resurfacing Duo Moisturiser review

All-focus

It took me sometime to do a review on this product because I also wanted to finish up at least one moisturizer before I got to this one and also because I like to use skin care products for at least two weeks before I can form an opinion on them.

This moisturizer was part of May’s Lookfantastic box and it was certainly the highlight of the box because it’s a full size product and one of the most expensive ones we got so far.

Avant Cosmetics are a UK brand that makes all kinds of skin care products using natural ingredients. I couldn’t find much about them, but they’re cruelty free and they seem to put a lot of care in what ingredients go into their products.

Packaging:

The moisturizer usually comes in a jar, but we got it in the box in a plastic tube. However, the quantity is the same: 50 ml. So I don’t know if it was a product released especially for the box or what, but it’s still the same stuff.

Texture:

It has the same texture as any type of moisturizer, not too thin and not too thick. It’s white and it has a vague scent, but it’s nothing that would be too overwhelming and you cant’ smell it after applying the moisturizer.

Ingredients:

aqua (water), Butyrospermum Parkii (shea) butter, glycerin, cetyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, dicaprylyl ether, propylheptyl caprylate, dimethicone, sodium hyaluronate, niacinamide, maris aqua (sea water), Prunus Amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, allantoin, tocopheryl acetate, peg-75 stearate, ceteth-20, steareth-20, propylene glycol, disodium edta, sodium polyacrylate, xanthan gum, lactic acid, parfum (fragrance), potassium sorbate, ethylhexylglycerin, CI 15985 (FD&C Yellow No. 6), CI 17200 (D&C Red No. 33).

Shea butter and sweet almond oil are great ingredients for the skin, at least in my opinion, and I also like the inclusion of sea water and  niacinamids in the mix.

Price and accesibility:

While I’m glad to have this moisturizer, I couldn’t find it in any store or online shops in Romania, so the only way to get this would be either through the official online store or through other international online shops. The price is very high: 138 US dollars on the official website. That’s way too much than I would be able to spend for it, but I’m not in their target audience since I can’t afford luxury skin care.

My overall opinion:

The main benefit of this moisturizer is that it should help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. While I fell like it does that as far as I can tell from the fine lines I have around my mouth and around the eye area, that’s something that most hyaluronic acid-based products would do, so I wouldn’t pay the high price tag for it. While it’s true that not all drugstore products have the same great effects there are at least cheaper products that could do the same and that are in the 20-30 euros price range.

The moisturizer is not too oily, so it’s a good match for my combination skin and I’m certainly happy that I received it in the box, but I can’t say that it totally transformed my skin so that I would go out of my way to purchase it.
