I just love beauty boxes, too bad we don’t have any options here in Romania, just every now and then something pops up. So, when I saw this mystery box, I decided to get it and see if it’s worth purchasing.

MioBio is a store in Bucharest with all kinds of natural and organic cosmetics and they also have an online shop.I heard about them when I was searching for Madara products, since I fell in love with that brand. I was on their website buying a Madara product (which I will tell you about after I get to test it) when I saw that they launched this mystery box. It costs 99 lei, which is about 20 euros. So, it’s not exactly a cheap box, but since the products they sell are not cheap either, I decided to go for it and see if I can obtain a sweet deal.

The mystery box is exactly that, a mystery. You don’t know what you get or how many items, but they said that the value will definitely be higher than 99 lei. Well, let me show you what I got in the box.

The products came in a white box, with a simple graphic design on it and it was decorated with a blue pressed flower and some string. The products were rapped in tissue paper, but I couldn’t take a picture of the opened box, because it doesn’t have a lid, so you wouldn’t see anything anyway.

Madara Infusion Blanc Moisture Soap

The start is already good, because I wanted to get more Madara products. Granted, I was more into skin care and not the bath and body products, but it’s still a nice surprise. This is a full size product, containing 300 ml. It’s usually 49 lei on the website, but they currently have a sale on Madara products, so it’s been reduced to 39 lei. That’s what I will consider it worth since it had the same price when I ordered the box as well. It’s a liquid soap with jasmine and meadowseet and it says it can be used for both hands and body, so I will use it as a shower gel instead.

Mossa Juicy Shake Eye Makeup Remover

This is another full size product, although it’s only 100 ml and it’s also on sale, reduced from 49 lei to 34 lei. I always go through eye makeup removers fast, so this is definitely something useful. I wouldn’t buy it on my own though, because I find it to be a little more expensive than what I’m comfortable paying for makeup removers.

Madara Anti 20 Sec Clean Hands Spray

Considering the current pandemic situation, I see why they decided to include such a product in the box and it has already find its place in my bag. It contains 70% plant alcohol and it’s also a full size product (50 ml). It was reduced from 39 lei to 31 lei. I like the packaging because it has a sprayer and it’s more comfortable to use than those hand gels that you have to squirt out of the packaging.

Georganics Natural Floss in Spearmint

You might find this funny, but I can also use the floss, especially since I’m very careful about my dental hygiene since my dentist told me I absolutely need to floss because just brushing my teeth apparently is not enough. This is 30 m long, so it will last me for quite some time. It’s also a product that is currently on sale, from 28 lei to 22 lei. Would I pay 22 lei for a dental floss? Heck no! I can buy a pack of two for like 10 lei at the grocery store and I don’t see the need to get some fancy floss, but oh well…

Annemarie Borlind Lip Liner in Rosewood

Finally, they also included one makeup item, and it’s one I very rarely use: a lip liner. Granted, it’s an expensive one, although it was also reduced from 45 lei to 36 lei on their website and it comes with its own brush and all but…I won’t get much use out of it because I rarely use lip liners.

So, was it worth it? I got 5 products (all full size) that have a total value of 162 lei. So, I saved about 40% of the price of the products if I had bought them separately. Considering the price, I wasn’t screwed because I got what I paid for and even more. Withe the 99 lei I could have bought 3 products and I received 5.

My problem is with the products they choose for the box. They were all items that are on sale on their website, so that are marked anyway and they are trying to get rid of the stock. Granted, they also have a big summer sale now, so I think most of their products are marked down.

Second, I can’t be excited about dental floss and hand sanitizers. These are daily hygiene items that use up quickly so I would never buy something expensive. I would rather spend those 50 lei that is the cost of the dental floss and the hand spray and buy something else like a nice face cream or a good shampoo and conditioner or a foundation or something like that. I can’t be excited about receiving those in the box because it’s almost like receiving tampons. Yeah, I need them, but I can get them at any grocery store in my town, you know?

The other issue is with the makeup product. They included only one and I would have preferred almost anything instead of a lip liner. An eye liner, a nail polish, anything but that. But it’s a matter of personal choice and I’m sure some people would love a lip liner.

The other two products are ok, I need eye makeup removers and I need some that are gentle on the eyes and a nice smelling liquid soap is always needed. However, I would have traded one of these items of a skin care product, even if it were just a travel size one.

I don’t know what else you could get in this box, because I think they put it together randomly, with what they have in stock. I appreciate the customer service, they were very quick and nice on the phone (although they didn’t send me any samples and I placed an order worth around 40 euros and they even gave me options for my samples on the website, yet in the package there was none) but the box didn’t blew me away.

I’m not completely sad because I like surprise boxes and it gave me a topic to write about on my blog, but the content was not exactly what i would have hoped for. Two products are boring, the makeup item is something I will barely use and the two items I actually like are not worth 99 lei in my book (a  liquid soap and an eye makeup remover).

Therefore, I don’t know if I will ever try one of these mystery boxes again, but I like the products they sell and I will place more orders with MioBio, especially when they have their sales.
