Revolution Pro New Neutral Blushed Eyeshadow Palette review

I received this eyeshadow palette in my Black Friday Lookfantastic box and I told you then that I’m not too thrilled about it just because I had a couple of Revolution Beauty products and none of them impressed me regarding their quality. Sure, they have some cute packaging sometimes and appealing color stories, but I don’t think the quality is there to be honest.

However, I decided to give this palette a chance because it’s been a couple of years since I tried any of their eyeshadows and the color story is actually right up my alley with the “blushed” neutral meaning lots of pinks and purples. There is also a sister palette to this one, which has plenty of reds and oranges and I’m glad at least we received this palette since I’m not a fan of red eyeshadow on me. It always just makes me look sickly. Also, this is obviously a dupe for one of those Huda Beauty palettes and they didn’t even try to hide it with the design of the eyeshadow pans and with the color story.

Packaging:

The packaging is A+ for a drugstore palette. The outer packaging and the palette itself have this cute golden leopard print design, which I’ll admit, I like a lot. The palette has a cardboard packaging, but a very sturdy one so I don’t think it’s the type that would bend easily on the corners, if you know what I mean. There is also a large mirror in there and it has magnetic closure. The palette contains 18 eyeshadows, each having 1 gram, so 18 grams in total. Like all (or at least most) of their products, the palette is made in China.

Texture:

There are different textures in here, mattes, shimmers and two glitter shades. They all feel nice and buttery, except for those two glitter that are way to gritty for me to like them. There’s no way they can be applied properly without a glitter glue and I surely won’t touch them, unless just for the swatches.

On the packaging it says that this product is cruelty free and vegan, so I’m happy about that, if this is true. You never know these days with companies and their ingredients list…

Swatches:

I split the swatches into three, for each row, so I can photograph them better. I didn’t use any primer or anything, but I did finger swatches, because I don’t think I can do nice brush swatches or they wouldn’t be good enough to be picked up by my phone’s camera.

From left to right:

Hint – this is a shimmery pinkish purple shade. It looks very nice in person. Actually, it’s one of those eyeshadows with the marble design on it, but once you swirl your brush into it, the design is gone.

Dazed – shimmery golden brown

Tone – matte dirty white shade

Aglow – shimmery lilac shade, I have no idea why it looks brown it the photo. It also has a marble design.

Lustre – red glitter

Posset – shimmery light mustard yellow

Rhubarb – matte cherry red shade

Cava – silver glitter

Roasted – matte toasty brown shade

Curio – shimmery muted red shade

Gala – matte emerald green

Claret – matte purple shade

Lucent – shimmery ballerina pink shade. Another one with the marble design in the pan.

Prime – matte light beige

Scarlet – matte dark purple

Corona – the name is really unfortunate, isn’t it? Shimmery vintage gold

Bloom – matte peach

Glimpse – matte lavender

I didn’t try all the colors on the eyes yet, but so far my favorites are Lucent, Glimpse, Hint and Aglow.

Price and accessibility:

Revolution Beauty products can be found everywhere even here in Romania or they can be ordered online because they ship to almost any country. The palette retails usually for 12.99 euros, which is what we usually pay here as well (around 60 lei). So, the price is very affordable, no complaints in this department. An you know, when a palette is so affordable, I get why people take the risk with this brand, considering their products are hits and misses.

My overall opinion:

Although I really like the color story and I feel like I can create many wearable looks with it, the quality still isn’t there. After a few hours, the eyeshadows didn’t crease on me, but the entire look became muddy. The colors mixed so much that I couldn’t tell where was the pink, or the purple or the lavender shade, it was just all a big mess. Now, I will use this palette for some time because I have and that’s that and I will also try it with a primer (which I admit I didn’t because I wanted to see how the eyeshadows look on the eye), but I’m not convinced to buy anything else from them. I’m glad I didn’t give in to my Disney fangirl persona and I didn’t get any of their princess eyeshadows they did when they collaborated with Disney. So, overall, yes it’s just a drugstore palette but I know there can be better quality even at an affordable price, so I won’t give it a pass.
