Dr. Botanicals Kiwi Superfood Cooling Eye Serum review

I was excited at first to try this eye serum from Dr. Botanicals because it’s a brand that I have never tried before. Unfortunately, me enthusiasm was not the same when I noticed that this product isn’t as amazing as I thought it would be.

Dr. Botanicals is a family owned brand based in London. In 2012, the brands was established as a cruelty free, vegan and natural skin care brand. They also have eco-friendly packaging, so these are all things that I like, but now let’s talk about the product itself.

Packaging:

The eye serum comes in a glass bottle with a dropper that contains 30 ml, which is a lot for an eye serum. I also like the design because of the colors they used, the white and the mint green.

Texture:

The serum doesn’t feel like a serum, because it feels just like water, only that it looks like a white liquid. I used it only on the eyes at first, but then I started using it on the entire face because it was difficult to apply it only in the eye area, even with the dropper.

Ingredients:

Ingredients:

Aqua (Water), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Cetearyl Alcohol,
Stearic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Xanthan
Gum, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Seed Oil, Citrus Grandis
(Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Dehydroacetic Acid, Limonene, Calcium Gluconate, Hydroxypropyl
Cyclodextrin, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, CI 75810 (Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex).

Glyceryl Stearate SE is a potentially pore-clogging ingredient, but I didn’t notice any issues. The top 5 ingredients on the list are water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate SE and Cetearyl Alcohol. There is also kiwi seed oil and grapefruit peel oil in the formula. The kiwi oil is supposed to lock in moisture and the grapefruit peel oil is rich in vitamin C, having skin brightening properties.

Price and accessibility:

I’ve seen Dr. Botanicals products in a couple of online shops here. The cooling eye serum is sold for 19.90 UK pounds on the brand’s official website, which is not too bad considering for the quantity of product you get and if you use it only in the eye area.

My overall opinion:

To be honest, I felt the cooling effect of the eye serum, but that was all. I used it all over my face just because it was difficult to apply it only in the under eye area as it basically felt like water. Other than the cooling effect I didn’t noticed anything special and I’ve used up the entire bottle in about the month.

This is one of the products that are just not useful for me, because I didn’t noticed anything special when applying it, it was all the same if I used the serum or not, so for me it was not worth it. I’m glad that I got to try it though in a beauty box and that I didn’t have to pay full price for it, or else I would have been very disappointed.
