Lime Crime Wet Cherry Lip Gloss in the shade Naked Cherry review

All-focus

I got this lip gloss way back in November when I ordered my Black Friday Lookfantastic box. I didn’t use it much since then because this is not a shade that I think it suits me particularly well, but since it’s the only Lime Crime product I tried so far and since they are known mostly for their lip products, I figured it was worth doing a review on it.

Lime Crime is a US cosmetics brand that is vegan and cruelty free, but that has some kind of shady history, especially regarding the former owner and some problems they had with their website being hacked. However, I’m not one to dwell on scandals of this type, so my opinion is strictly on the product.

Packaging:

The lip gloss comes in a clear plastic tube with a pink cap. I have only the mini version of this, but the full size doesn’t have much product either, just 2.96 ml, which I think it’s not much considering the price point. It has a dove foot applicator, like most lip glosses.

Texture:

It claims to be a juicy lip gloss, especially from what I’ve seen in pictures on their website, but on the lips it looks more like a cream lip gloss. It’s also a little streaky, at least mine is and even when I applied two coats there were still spots on my lips where the color was uneven.

Ingredients:

Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum), Polybutene, Polybutene Terephthalate, Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Acrylates Copolymer, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Ethylene/VA Copolymer, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Tin Oxide, BHT, Flavor (Aroma), Benzyl Benzoate, Limonene, Eugenol, Cinnamal, Palmitic Acid, Benzoic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol. May Contain/Peut Contenir +/-]: Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090:2). Net Weight: 2.96 ml

Probably because there are not any especially hydrating ingredients in this, it doesn’t feel like a true juicy lip gloss.

Price and accessibility:

Lime Crime products are available in Romania in Douglas stores and in a couple of online shops. The lip gloss retails for 18 US dollars on the brand’s official website, which is more than the usual drugstore products, but I think it’s overpriced considering you don’t even get 3 ml worth of product.

My overall opinion:

The shade Naked Cherry is supposed to be a pinky nude at I like more how it looks swatched on my hand.

However, on my lips, the color looks muted, like a very pale pink, almost a beige color. It’s not necessarily the lip gloss’ fault, as most lip products in nude shades don’t look good on me, but this makes me feel disappointed and that’s why I didn’t wear this one, only a couple of time. I still can’t bring myself to remove it from my makeup collection, because like I said, it’s the only Lime Crime product I have, but it’s definitely not one of my favorites.

The formula does feel comfortable on the lips, but it doesn’t look juicy and shiny enough, so that’s another minus in my book. I wouldn’t buy other Lime Crime lip glosses because I was not impressed with this one, but never say never.
