L’Oreal Lash Paradise Intense Black Mascara review

On my recent vacation, I wanted to pick up two drugstore products that I couldn’t find in my town. One of them was the Lash Paradise mascara because I had heard so many good things about it. When I found in a Bipa store in Vienna another variant of this mascara, the Intense Black version, I got this one instead because I like my lashes as black as possible since I am a brunette and it just goes well with my hair and it accentuates my eyes.

Packaging:

The tube is very cute, it has a rose-gold color and it looks metallic but trust me, it feels light as plastic so it probably is. The tube contains 6.4 ml of product which is somewhere in the middle since I had mascara varying between 6 ml and 10 ml. The wand is not too thick and not too thin, somewhere in between and it’s not one of those rubber wands. I prefer classic wand for mascara to be honest, those rubber wands I think are better for the bottom lashes.

Texture:

This is not a thick formula which coats the lashes nicely and it doesn’t make them clumpy. I personally like to have very defined lashes and not just those “spider lashes” that look clumped up togehter.

Ingredients:

AQUA / WATER, PARAFFIN, POTASSIUM CETYL PHOSPHATE, COPERNICIA CERIFERA CERA / CARNAUBA WAX, ETHYLENE/ACRYLIC ACID COPOLYMER, STYRENE/ACRYLATES/AMMONIUM METHACRYLATE COPOLYMER, CERA ALBA / BEESWAX, SYNTHETIC BEESWAX, BIS-DIGLYCERYL POLYACYLADIPATE-2, POLYBUTENE, CETYL ALCOHOL, STEARETH-20, GLYCERYL DIBEHENATE, STEARETH-2, PHENOXYETHANOL, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, ACACIA SENEGAL GUM, TRIBEHENIN, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, GLYCERYL BEHENATE, SODIUM DEHYDROACETATE, HYDROGENATED JOJOBA OIL, HYDROGENATED PALM OIL, PARFUM / FRAGRANCE, DISODIUM EDTA, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ROSA CANINA FRUIT OIL, SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE, TETRASODIUM EDTA, RICINUS COMMUNIS SEED OIL / CASTOR SEED OIL, MALTODEXTRIN, POTASSIUM SORBATE, BHT, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, CENTAUREA CYANUS FLOWER EXTRACT, PROPYL GALLATE, CITRIC ACID [+/- MAY CONTAIN CI 77499 / IRON OXIDES,

Unfortunately this is not a vegan formula because it contains bees wax, which I would have preferred it didn’t. In exchange, I appreciate the jojoba oil, the castor seed oil and the rosehip oil in the formula, which are all great for lashes.

Price and accessibility:

I paid 13 euros for this mascara, which I think is a price that is generally available for this mascara. The lowest it goes is 10 euros in some online shops. Being a very popular drugstore brand, L’Oreal products can be found in most beauty stores and beauty online shops.

My overall opinion:

I can see where the hype comes from with this mascara. It applies nicely on the lashes, it gives both volume and length and it holds a curl throughout the day. Even though this is not a waterproof version, I found that the mascara isn’t runny and it doesn’t leave black spots on the eyelid or on the skin around the eyes. It stays put all day until I decide to take it off.

Honestly, it is better than my favorite essence mascara (which costs only about 5 euros) because it holds the lash curl better and because it feels more lightweight on the lashes and thus more comfortable. I like it very much and it’s a product that i would repurchase. Plus, it’s a fair price for a good drugstore mascara and it’s easily available.
