Revlon ColorSilk Beautiful Color Hair Color review

Usually I don’t review hair dyes because I use the same stuff over and over but since I gave up on my L’Oreal Casting because I discovered it wasn’t meant to be a permanent hair color and I would have to recolor my hair too often, I experimented with a couple of hair dyes that weren’t good as in they contain ammonia and now my hair is both overly dry and it becomes oily and flat fast at the same time. I can’t explain it either, it’s a paradox. So, I saw that they had a sale on Revlon hair color in DM stores, so I decided to give it a try.

Packaging:

The packet contains the cream developer, the hair colorant, a sachet of conditioner and a pair of gloves. The cream developer comes in one of those tube with a tip applicator, which I prefer because I don’t have to use a separate mixing bowl.

Texture:

The hair colorant is like a liquid gel instead of the thick cream I’m used to with other drugstore hair dyes, which is interesting because it’s easier to pour it into the cream developer tube.

Price and accessibility:

In stores, I saw this hair dye only in DM stores, but it’s also available in various online shops. I got it for about 3.5 euros, but the usual price is somewhere around 4.5 euros. It’s affordable (trust me, there are cheaper products out there but I don’t recommend them) and easy to get by. The shade range is also pretty nice, as there are 41 shades available.

My overall opinion:

I have a very common shade, as I use the 30 Dark Brown one and I already had dark brown hair to apply it on, so I can’t say how it turns out when there are more difficult shades to apply. I mixed it very easy in the cream developer tube and then I apply it on my hair like I would with any other hair dye. I usually insist on the roots and in that area and I apply it on the rest of my hair length just to even out the color and to refresh it.

It actually smells nice, it doesn’t have that ammonia smell to it (because it doesn’t contain any of course) and I had no bad reactions from it. The hair looks very glossy and shiny and it covered the few grey hairs I have very good.

I want to mention the conditioner because I think it’s a really nice one and if they would sell it in bottles I would buy it because it seems to really help with my overly dry hair.

Overall, this is a very nice drugstore hair dye and I will probably continue to use it because it’s one of the more affordable ammonia-free ones that I can get my hands on easily.
