Elemis Superfood Glow Priming Moisturizer review

I only had a travel size of this product (20 ml), but I already knew there was a high chance that I would love it because I happen to love Elemis products, although they are out of my budget limit. But it’s still nice to have something like this from time to time to pamper yourself.

Packaging:

The full size product contains 60 ml, which is more than usual and it comes in a bottle with a pump, but the travel size comes in a tube. I don’t mind because many face creams, foundations and other face products come in tubes, but, of course, the pump is better in my opinion.

Texture:

The moisturizer has a yellow tint to it but it doesn’t come through on the skin. It has a light texture, similar to a lotion so you really don’t need as much product. I use mine each morning for a month now and I still have a couple of uses left. It also has a slight scent, but nothing that’s too strong.

Ingredients:

Aqua/Water/Eau, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Octyldodecanol, Olus Oil/Vegetable Oil/Huile Végétale, Caprylyl Glycol, Mica, Propylene Glycol, Cetyl Palmitate, Phenoxyethanol, Polyacrylate-13, Sorbitan Palmitate, Tocopherol, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide, Fragrance (Parfum), Polyisobutene, Disodium EDTA, Xanthan Gum, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Sorbitan Oleate, Saccharomyces/Xylinum/Black Tea (Kombucha) Ferment, Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil, Candida Bombicola/Glucose/Methyl Rapeseedate Ferment, Polysorbate 20, Sorbitan Isostearate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Tin Oxide, Linalool, Limonene, Lactobacillus, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Geraniol, Hydroxyethyl Ethylcellulose, Citronellol, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Ribes Nigrum Bud Oil, Biotin, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491 (Iron Oxides).

The key ingredients listed on the brand’s website are kombucha (rich in vitamins and organic acids), fermented ginger (antioxidant), fermented green tea seed oil (softens and moisturizes the skin) and illuminating minerals (to create the appearance of a dewy glow). These are all brightening and illuminating ingredients to make the skin glow.

Price and accessibility:

Elemis products are available in Romania in Douglas stores and in a few online shops. This moisturizer is sold for 49 euros on the brand’s website, which again, I will repeat myself, but it’s too expensive for me because it’s a high end skin care brand, but at least you get a higher quantity than usual and a little does go a long way.

My overall opinion:

I find this to be an interesting hybrid between a moisturizer and a primer. They say it can also be used as a highlighter, but honestly it’s not that shimmery or bright, which is not a bad thing because I don’t look like a disco ball when I apply it all over the face.

I found that I could use it as a moisturizer and just with a little bit of concealer because it helps reduce the appearance of the skin pores and it evens out the skin tone. That’s why I say that this is not a liquid highlighter because it doesn’t emphasize the skin texture. It works as a moisturizer but also as a face primer and I like how my skin looks with or without makeup, which is great.

If it weren’t for the price, I would definitely purchase the full size and I would recommend this product wholeheartedly. It’s good even for oily or combination skin because it doesn’t make me look oily, it just gives that beautiful glow to the skin and in the summer, on tanned skin it looks amazing. At least, I loved it very much.
