Christophe Robin Hydrating Melting Mask with Aloe Vera review

I got a mini size of this hair mask in this month’s Lookfantastic beauty box and I was very happy because I tried another Christophe Robin product in the past and I liked it very much. I was able to use the mask three times and maybe it would have lasted me for four times if I didn’t have long hair.

Packaging:

Both the full size (200 ml) and the mini size that I had (40 ml) come in plastic tubes, which doesn’t bother me, but I think that pump bottles or even jars are more easy to use when I wash my hair.

Texture:

This hair mask had a surprisingly thin consistency, as masks are usually thicker than conditioners. This looks almost like a lotion so probably that’s why I needed to use a little bit more than usual. It’s a white mask that has a pleasant herbal scent and it was easy to work it through the hair because it was thinner.

Ingredients:

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Aqua/Water/Eau, Propanediol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behenamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sodium Pca, Lactic Acid, Fragrance (Parfum), Fructooligosaccharides, Linseed Acid, Tocopherol, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Sodium Benzoate, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Potassium Sorbate, Saccharide Isomerate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil Unsaponifiables, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Unsaponifiables, Arctium Lappa Root Extract, Limonene, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Leaf Extract, Linalool, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate

The key ingredients listed on the brand’s website are aloe vera (it’s the first ingredient on the list, which I like) to provide hydration, Oligosaccharide for moisturization and flaxseed oil to nourish the hair. I also like the nettle leaf extract in here because I know it’s good to add volume to the hair and it’s also good for oily hair.

Price and accessibility:

Christophe Robin products are available at Sephora (but a small selection) and in a few online stores. This mask is sold for 27 euros on the brand’s website which is quite expensive considering that you don’t get a large amount like in the case of those big bottles in the case of some professional hair care products. It’s more than I am willing to spend on hair care considering that I use up hair care products fast, but if you can afford it, it’s a good hair mask.

My overall opinion:

Despite being a hair mask with a thin consistency, I must say that I saw a great improvement in my hair after the first use. I have a strange combination now, oily roots and dry hair because I color my hair constantly so if I don’t use products that provide hydration to the hair it looks and feels like a broomstick. I’m happy to say that this hair mask really gets the job done without weighing down the hair.

Considering that this hair mask is recommended for dull and dehydrated hair, I would highly recommend it and it also does feel like a luxury hair care product. Too bad the price is accordingly to the feeling, but like I said before, if you can afford it, it feels like a hair salon mask.
