Dr. Botanicals Turmeric Superfood Restoring Treatment Mask review

I wasn’t impressed with Dr. Botanicals products in the past, but I know that this is a cruelty free and vegan brand, so I wanted to give it another chance. I got this face mask in the Lookfantastic beauty box from last month and since it’s a travel size it lasted me for about 6 applications I would say.

Packaging:

The funny thing with the packaging is that either we got an older product or something packaged especially for the Lookfantastic box, but the tube we got was white with orange writing on it, while on the website the packaging is orange with white writing on it. I like the orange packaging more to be honest, because it’s more colorful and fun.

Texture:

This face mask has not a thick texture, it looks more like a lotion than a mask or a cream. It also has a very very pale yellow tint to it and it has a herbal scent, but I can’t say that it was something that bothered me.

Ingredients:

Aqua (Water), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Cetearyl, Alcohol, Stearic,Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Ammonium,Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Xanthan Gum, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, Lavandula ,Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Curcuma Longa Root (Turmeric) Root Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Seabuckthorn) Fruit Oil, Linalool, Dehydroacetic Acid,Calcium Gluconate, Geraniol, Isoeugenol.

The key ingredient in this is the turmeric root powder that it helps with dryness and blemishes and it also has brightening properties. This ingredient is also an antioxidant along with the seabuckthorn fruit oil. It doesn’t contain alcohol. The gluconolactone is an exfoliant and the glycerin is a skin-identical ingredient. However, while the lavender oil is antibacterial and antimicrobial, it can cause skin irritations, so I’m not a big fan of this ingredient in skin care.

Price and accessibility:

Dr. Botanicals products are available in various online shops, so it’s not a problem obtaining them. The price I would say is mid-range. This particular travel size product (30 ml) is available on the brand’s website for 11.90 UK pounds, so that’s not so bad for a face mask.

My overall opinion:

I have to say this face mask was not one of my favorites. The face mask is made to be left on the skin for about 15 minutes and then the residue is removed with warm water. Probably because of the lavender oil I felt a tingling sensation every time I applied it and I don’t think it’s supposed to be like that if it should also soothe the skin. Also, there were no major effects after using it. The skin did feel smooth afterwards but I get that effect after any hydrating face mask that I use. Therefore, it’s not something that I would like to keep adding to my skin care routine.
