I always find it remarkable when I hear about people that use the same type of hair care products because no matter what I try, even if it’s something that I really love, after a couple of months they seem not to work anymore.
This type, I decided to try this Klorane shampoo because it’s one of the the most popular ones in France (as far as I can tell from all the beauty blogs I’ve been reading), but even after the first uses I just don’t like it.
Klorane is a French brand that makes hair and body care products that contain mostly botanical ingredients. They have lots of hair care products and baby care products as far as I can tell, which is an interesting combination. It makes me think of Yves Rocher to be honest.
Packaging:
The shampoo comes in a plastic bottle that contains 200 ml. The bottle is transparent so I know when I will almost be out of product which is helpful for me. The design is very simple, white and green, but this is a common think for French cosmetics that are widely available in pharmacies.
Texture:
It has the same texture as any other shampoo. It’s not so thick and it does look like milk because it’s white and it has that milky consistency. If it has a scent, I can’t sense it.
Ingredients:
WATER (AQUA), SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, COCO-GLUCOSIDE, LAURYL BETAINE, CETEARETH-60 MYRISTYL GLYCOL, AVENA SATIVA (OAT) KERNEL EXTRACT (AVENA SATIVA KERNEL EXTRACT), BENZOIC ACID, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, CITRIC ACID, DISODIUM COCOYL GLUTAMATE, DISODIUM EDTA, FRAGRANCE (PARFUM), INULIN, SODIUM CHLORIDE, STYRENE/ACRYLATES COPOLYMER, XANTHAN GUM
The main ingredient is, you guessed it, oat kernel extract. This is actually a very nice ingredient, that acts like an antioxidant, it’s soothing and emollient. Inulin is also a nice ingredient. Other than that, I can’t say that I see anything special about this formula.
It is alcohol-free and it contains 87% ingredients of natural origin.
Price and accessibility:
In Romania, Klorane products are available in some pharmacies (Sensiblu, Dr. Max) and in various online shops. Pricewise it’s a medium-range product. I got mine from an online shop and it bought it for about 7 euros. I know it doesn’t seem like much, but considering that most drugstore shampoos that work just the same cost about 4-5 euros, this one is slightly more expensive.
My overall opinion:
The only reason why I’m not a fan of this shampoo is because it makes my hair too dry (and I have oily hair). It says on the bottle that it’s suitable for all hair types and for frequent use, but I just don’t think that this is right, because it makes my hair feel dry and I have to apply some extra conditioner to make it soft (this is the shampoo I use in combination with the L’Oreal Wonder Water).
Considering how it works, I can’t say that I recommend this shampoo and it’s one of those products that I don’t get where its popularity comes from.
