I couldn’t remember if I ever had this perfume before, but I think I had only one of those little mini sample bottles. This perfume was also a gift with purchase from Yves Rocher, which I do have to say it was a very nice one considering that it’s an eau de parfum and not an eau de toilette.
Packaging:

The packaging is really nothing special. Just a pear shaped glass bottle which doesn’t even feel heavy and some silver writing on it. The cap is also plain. The bottle contains 50 ml. What’s cool is that the perfume really is purple so at least that’s that. The cardboard packaging is more fun so that’s why I plan on keeping it a little longer.
Top not: bergamot
Middle notes: tuberose and vetiver
Base notes: patchouli, incense, tonka bean, vanilla, woodsy notes and benzoin
Price and accessibility:
The perfume is available in Yves Rocher stores and through their online shop. They often have all kinds of sales and this perfume is also gifted as a freebie for online orders of a certain amount. If you pay full price, this perfume costs around 46 euros. It’s not exactly affordable but it’s also not crazy expensive.
My overall opinion:
So Elixir Purple is not new on the market. In fact, it was launched 10 years ago, in 2012, as a variant of another popular Yves Rocher perfume called simply So Elixir. The creator of this perfume is Marie Salamagne. The main note that I can smell is the tuberose, which is tricky because you either like or hate the scent of tuberoses. I personally like it. However, it’s tempered by other notes like the vetiver and the wood notes, so it doesn’t feel as sickening sweet as the flower. It has a good longevity. it’s not exactly the type of perfume that I spray on I can still feel it in the evening, but it’s still there even after a few hours have passes, so it’s not bad. I can’t say it’s one of my favorite perfumes, but it’s floral so that’s a plus a in my book and it feels elegant and mature (not old lady mature, my age mature I mean). I’m happy that I got it and I will use it, but I think the best perfumes that Yves Rocher does from what I tried so far are the rose-based ones.
