Farmec Gerovital Must Have line review

When I heard that one of my favorite Romanian skin care brands, Farmec is coming out with a new line, I knew I just had to try it. The Must Have line is called that way because the products are basic, packed with efficient ingredients, straight and simple, without all the other things like exotic natural extracts or some new patented ingredients. The line consists of 6 products and I got only 3 for starters because I wanted to see how they work first. There are 4 serums and 2 face creams and I chose 2 serums and 1 face cream and after two weeks of daily use, I think I want to add also the rest to my collection. But let me tell you what everything is all about.

Gerovital Must Have Anti-aging and firming serum

The serum comes in a matte dark bottle with a dropper and I think it looks quite classy and elegant. It contains 30 ml, which is the standard size for face serums and it costs around 6.5 euros, which makes it an affordable product.

Maybe the packaging doesn’t look like much, but for an affordable product, I think they did pretty good. It’s good to store a serum in general, even if it’s not kept in the fridge.

The texture is a milky one, it feels a little more on the thick side and it looks white but it doesn’t have any particular smell. I can’t say that I like how it feels a little bit sticky after applying it, but since I apply a moisturizer over it, it doesn’t bother me that much. It absorbs very fast into the skin.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Mel Extract, Propylene Glycol, Squalane, Pentylene Glycol, Glycerin, Soluble Collagen, Hydrolyzed Elastin, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium PCA, Serine, Glycogen, Aloe Barbadensis Extract, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Tripeptide-10 Citrulline, Tripeptide-1, Lecithin, Niacinamide, Glyceryl Laurate, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Tocopherol, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides Citrate, Glycine Soja Oil, Butylene Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Caprylyl Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Sorbic Acid

The key ingredients are peptides (10%) and squalane (3%) and we all know how great are peptides for the skin. There is also aloe vera extract in it, honey extract and niacinamide.

Gerovital Must Have Eye contour serum

The packaging is exactly the same like the one from the face serum, a cream glass bottle with a dropper that contains 30 ml. This eye serum also costs around 6.5 euros.

I must say, the size is very generous for an eye serum, but since I don’t need that much for the eye area when I apply a drop in the palm of my hand, I use the rest on the face. Also, this one also feels a little sticky but it doesn’t bother me.

The consistency is more liquid , so I have to work fast when I’m applying it, but it’s also white and it doesn’t have a particular scent. I don’t know if you can tell from the picture, but it does have some discreet shimmer particles in it, which I think makes the under eye area look brighter. It also works great to depuff the eye, but unfortunately it doesn’t do anything for my under eye circles.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Niacinamide, Caffeine, Pentylene Glycol, Undecane, Tridecane, Olea Europaea Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Dimethicone, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Glycerin, C15-19 Alkane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Escin, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Bisabolol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Polyglyceryl-6 Laurate, Decylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Glucosyl Ceramide, Polyglycerin-6, Sodium Hydroxide

The key ingredients are caffeine (3%), vitamin C liposomes (1%) and escin (0.3%), which is a mixture of sapoins with anti-inflammatory, vasoconstrictor and vasoprotective effects. There is also olive oil in it and I don’t know that the light reflecting ingredient in the formula is, but I do feel like it makes the skin look brighter.

Gerovital Must Have Booster Moisturizing face cream

The serums may come in nice glass bottles, but the face crema is still packaged in the same plastic jars that I know from most Farmec products. It’s a cute design and all, but I would have liked to see something a little more fancier.

The jar contains 50 ml, just like any regular face cream and it costs around 7.5 euros, which is not bad, it’s still an affordable products.

This is supposed to have a “sorbet” texture, but for me it’s just a white gel-cream that absorbs fast into the skin and that it makes the skin feel so soft and smooth like after a facial. And I’m not exaggerating. Too bad it doesn’t have any SPF or it would have been perfect.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Isopropyl Isostearate, Olea Europaea Oil, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Cetearyl Olivate, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Undecane, Sorbitan Olivate, Pentylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Dimethicone, C15-19 Alkane, Tridecane, Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Xylitol, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Xanthan Gum, Polyglyceryl-6 Laurate, Bisabolol, Parfum, Tetrasodium EDTA, Polyglycerin-6, Tocopherol, Decylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides Citrate, Glycine Soja Oil, Sodium Hydroxide.

The key ingredients are niacinamides (2%) and hyaluronic acid (0.3%), which are some simple ingredients by today’s standards, but are very nice and effective for the skin.

The products can be found in Farmec stores and in their online shops (which is where I got them from). They’re not exactly cheap, but they are affordable, and they are enough to create just a basic skin care routine.

I use all the products in the morning because I have a different routine in the night, but I want to try the other 3 products from the Gerovital Must Have line as well, because the 3 I already have are some of my favorite. There other products are a hydrating serum (10% niacinamides and 1% zinc gluconate), a peeling serum (10% AHA and 1% vitamin C) and a moisturizing cream with SPF (1% peptides and SPF 15), what has also some tint to it.

Overall, well done, Farmec! I love the products from this line as I think they are simple and efficient and easy to integrate into any skin care routine.
