One of the things that I like about shopping for skin care products at the Dr. Max pharmacy is that they have all kind of sales all time time and this gives me the opportunity to try out various products that I wouldn’t usually purchase. For example, I got this snail mucin face cream because it was on sale and because I didn’t try out any Korean skin care. Now, I heard about COSRX and I know they’re a very popular brand, plus their products are not that expensive. So, this is how I got this face cream.
Let me say, I really was irky about using a product that contains something from an animal, but then my curiosity got the best out of me and I tried it out and I’m so glad that I did.
Packaging:

The face cream comes in a basic plastic plastic jar with a lid, but it contains a generous amount of 100 ml. I also appreciate the fact that the cardboard box contained a detailed leaflet about the ingredients used and the properties of the cream in several languages. Not many products provide that much information and it’s a shame.
Texture:
The cream is a mixture between a gel and a lotion, so it’s very liquidy and you only need a small amount. It is very sticky, just like snail mucin probably feels (I haven’t touched the stuff, so I don’t know), but it absorbs into the skin and it has a velvety finish.
Ingredients:
Snail Secretion Filtrate, Betaine, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Arginine, Dimethicone, Carbomer, Panthenol, Allantoin, Sodium Polyacrylate, Xanthan Gum, Ethyl Hexanediol, Adenosine, Phenoxyethanol
The snail secretion filtrate is a rather controversial ingredient because some say that it does wonders, others that it’s bogus. I, for one, am willing to fall into the first category. The formula contains all kinds of nice ingredients, including hyaluronic acid and arginine.
Price and accessibility:
COSRX products are available in Romania in pharmacies and in various online shops. The price differs depending on the place you get it. Like I said, I got this cream on sale for around 12 euros, which is a bargain, if you ask me. On the brand’s official shop it’s sold for 26 US dollars, so at about double the price.
My overall opinion:
I was skeptic at first, but the face cream does feel very nice on the skin and it makes it look almost flawless. Considering that we’re going through a heat wave and I’m on my period, I should have been full of pimples in the chin and forehead area, but my skin is clear. Also, I noticed improvement in the eye area and where I had some fine lines. Also, all I need is just a little bit of tinted moisturizer or a BB cream or just a dab of light foundation to even out the skin tone and trust me, I think it looks great.
So, in conclusion, not only will I keep using this face cream, I will also try some more COSRX products and I will also dab more into Korean skin care because it sparked my interest. I tried so many face creams now and some where better than others, but none had so good results in just two weeks which is how long I’ve been using this one. I really hope that the snails are not harmed during the process of collecting the mucin, because, for me, it does do wonders to the skin and I would really like to keep using products that contain this ingredient.
