Ben & Anna Pink Grapefruit Natural Deodorant review

When I saw that a new brand is available in the Dr. Max pharmacy I was curious to try it because I’ve heard about Ben & Anna from beauty advent calendar unboxings done by German beauty vloggers. So, I wanted to give it a try because, from my limited experience, natural deodorants are really just like rain water. This is a Romanian expression and it means that something is neither good or bad, it’s just there, just like rain water.

Ben & Anna is a brand created by a couple from Berlin who decided that they wanted to have a natural deodorant that was vegan and cruelty free and also sustainable. They were successful with their deodorants so they branched out in making powder toothpaste, solid shampoos and body washes and who knows what else they have in store.

Packaging:

The deodorant comes in a cardboard tube made from FSC certified paper. It contains 40 grams and the each tube has a different color, depending on the scent of the deodorant. You just have to push out the stick as you use it.

Texture:

The deodorant looks like any normal stick deodorant, maybe a little creamier which is a bit surprising for me, because I’ve seen only roll-ons and body sprays so far as natural deodorant goes. It does have a citrus scent combined with a sweet note, but it’s subtle.

Ingredients:

Sodium Bicarbonate, Zea Mays Starch, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Cocos Nucifera Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Helianthus Annuus Seed Cera, Ricinus Communis Seed Oil, Limonene, Rhus Verniciflua Peel Cera, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Shorea Robusta Resin, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa Root Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Citrus Paradisi Peel Oil, Citral, Linalool.

It doesn’t contain aluminium, which is the main problem ingredient in most deodorants and it does have all kinds of natural ingredients like shea buter, coconut oil, sunflower seed oil, Chinese lacquer tree wax, sal tree resin, jojoba seed oil, wild carrot root extract and rosemary leaf extract.

Price and accessibility:

Ben & Anna products are available in Romania in Dr. Max pharmacies, in several online shops and though a dedicated website. It’s sold for around 6 euros, which is not bad for a natural deodorant. I got it on sale for around 4.5 euros.

My overall opinion:

Well, the thing is that, as far as being a good deodorant, it’s a 10/10 because it does help with the sweating and the smell. And I didn’t noticed any stains on my clothes. But there is something in this, I don’t know if it’s just this deodorant or it would apply to all of their deodorants, but it irritates my skin. There is a ingredient in the formula that makes my under arms itch and I scratch myself without even noticing so now I have a slight rash in the area and it’s uncomfortable. Luckily it’s winter and I don’t sweat much or I would have a bigger problem.

So, I think that it is a good natural deodorant for those who want to avoid aluminium and other bad ingredients in deodorants, but just be careful not to have an allergic reaction to it like I did. I’m not saying that it’s the product’s fault because something like this could happen with any type of product, natural or not.
