Revolution Beauty Satin Kiss Lipstick review

I know I’m probably going overboard with the posts about lipstick, but since these are the ones that I’m testing right now because of the advent calendar, this is what I have new in my collection. At least, I’m reviewing all the products that are the same together, so now it’s time for the first lipsticks that I got. These seem to be part of the Satin Kiss range, although the packaging is different.

Packaging:

The regular lipsticks from this range have a nicer packaging, rose gold tubes, but the ones in the advent calendar are packed in basic black tubes with a clear cap that have a little bit of product in there and you can actually see the colors. The regular lipsticks and the ones available in the advent calendars seem to have the same quantity: 3.2 grams.

Texture:

The lipsticks are creamy, but not as creamy as I expected them to be. I have the shades Cupcake Pink and Heart Race Nude. There are 12 shades available in total. The finish is satin, but it’s more on the matte side to be honest. The pink looks very nice, but not for my complexion as unfortunately I think it makes me look like a clown. The nude shade is wearable, a classic shade for everyday makeup looks.

Ingredients:

OCTYLDODECANOL, BIS-DIGLYCERYL POLYACYLADIPATE-2, CERA MICROCRISTALLINA (MICROCRYSTALLINE WAX, CIRE MICROCRYSTALLINE), ALUMINUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE, ISONONYL ISONONANOATE, KAOLIN, PARAFFIN, SILICA, MICA, SYNTHETIC BEESWAX (CIRE D’ABEILLE SYNTHETIQUE), HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED WAX, AQUA (WATER, EAU), PHENOXYETHANOL, SHOREA ROBUSTA RESIN, RHUS VERNICIFLUA PEEL WAX, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, TOCOPHEROL, ASCORBYL PALMITATE.[+/- MAY CONTAIN/PEUT CONTENIR: CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE), CI 77492 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77491 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77499 (IRON OXIDES), CI 15850 (RED 6), CI 15850 (RED 7), CI 45410 (RED 28), CI 42090 (BLUE 1), CI 19140 (YELLOW 5)].

I appreciate that at least in the lipsticks there are some skin caring ingredients such as sunflower seed oil and jojoba seed oil, because the rest of the makeup products I have tried so far had none.

Price and accessibility:

Like I said before, Revolution Beauty products are widely available, especially in online shops. These lipsticks are sold for 5.99 euros in Revolution Beauty online shop. I think they could be cheaper considering that the lipsticks are not that amazing and the packaging is also not that special.

My overall opinion:

As much as I love pink, this pink shade is not for me because it’s a very bright pink and it takes a bold person to wear something like that. At least in my opinion. The nude shade is lovely. The formula could have been a little more comfortable on the lips. The longevity is so-and-so, meaning that the lipsticks do wear off rather quickly and you have to reapply them. That’s why I’m saying that the formula is nothing special considering what we have now on the market and the price point does seem a little high for what it is. I have lipsticks in my collection that I got for half the price and that are just as good as these ones, or even better in some cases. In other words, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend them because they don’t have anything special or out of the ordinary to bring to the table.

  1. Hey Oana! I just read your review of the Revolution Beauty Satin Kiss Lipsticks, and I really appreciate your honest insights. It’s so helpful to know that the shades Cupcake Pink and Heart Race Nude have a satin finish that leans more matte and that the formula isn’t as creamy as expected. Your point about the packaging differences between the advent calendar versions and the regular rose gold tubes is also super informative. I totally get your perspective on the bright pink shade not suiting your complexion—finding the right shade can be such a journey! Keep up the great work; your detailed reviews are a valuable resource for beauty enthusiasts like me.
